A couple months back, Blue Bell Ice Cream made its debut in St. Louis. My hubby, who is from Texas, was ecstatic. I didn’t know how good it was, until I had my first bite. We started with a Homemade Vanilla (not pictured yet), and it was the best vanilla ice cream I have ever had. I don’t typically reach for vanilla, but you gotta start somewhere, plus we tried it as a family and there are some vanilla lovers.
We couldn’t wait to start trying more flavors, especially with the temps rising and wanting some frozen tasty treats.
So below, is a list of the flavors we have tried so far and our opinions, (minus the homemade vanilla, for now).
Any flavor we have given 5 stars to is a flavor we have bought more than once (already) or we are planning to buy more when we finish some of what we have.

Milk Chocolate – milk chocolate ice cream w/cocoa, milk and cream.
Family Favorite! This is probably my favorite chocolate ice cream now. So creamy and delicious. I find myself craving this flavor, more often than I want to… it’s just so good!
Java Jolt (Limited Time) – Coffee Ice Cream w/dark chocolate flavored chunks and coffee fudge swirl.
One of our favorites! This will be a staple in the house (when available). Love the coffee ice cream and swirl. If you like coffee ice cream, this one is a winner!
Pecan Pralines ‘n Cream – praline sauce swirled with creamy vanilla ice cream sprinkled w/praline-coated pecans
Family Favorite! Another fantastic ice cream. That sauce is mouthwatering and the praline coated pecans are amazing. All of us absolutely love the Pecan Praline’s ‘n Cream!
Strawberry – strawberry ice cream with chunks of strawberries
Strawberry deliciousness. This is in my son’s top 5. I will absolutely buy this one again, especially in the spring and summer. YUMMY! Love the strawberries in it. Next time, I’m going to try with a slice of yellow cake or angel food cake.
Dr Pepper Float – vanilla flavored ice cream with a Dr Pepper® flavored sherbet.
Family Favorite! Oh my, if you like Dr. Pepper, you must try this. It tastes just like a Dr Pepper Float. It is ridiculously enjoyable. This half gallon went pretty darn quick. Definitely need to buy more of the Dr Pepper Float.
A&W Float – vanilla flavored ice cream w/ A&W® Root Beer flavored sherbet
Rootbeer Float ice cream, I am so in! This is one of my son’s top five from Blue Bell. He loves A&W and he now loves Blue Bell’s A&W. Homerun!
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough – ice cream with chunks of chocolate chip cookie dough and dark chocolate chips.
This one wasn’t bad, just wasn’t one of my favorites. I like more cookie dough in my cookie dough ice cream.
Cookie Two Step – vanilla ice cream w/chunks of chocolate crème filled cookies and chocolate chip cookie dough pieces
Mint Chocolate Chip – mint ice cream w/dark chocolate chips.
I love mint chocolate chip ice cream, and this one was just ok for me. I need a stronger, creamier mint. However, this is my son’s #1 favorite (so far).
Banana Pudding – banana ice cream w/whipped topping and vanilla wafers
Banana Pudding fans rejoice! I feel like I am eating banana pudding, just colder than usual. This is another family favorite and my son is asking for a scoop of this, at least once a day now.
Rocky Road – dark chocolate ice cream w/chopped almonds and marshmallows.
Rocky Road, in general, isn’t my favorite flavor to begin with but this one was pretty tasty. I enjoyed the dark chocolate very much.
Cookies ‘n Cream – vanilla ice cream w/ chunks of chocolate crème filled cookies (picture will be replaced when I buy another half gallon)
Definitely the best Cookies ‘n cream I’ve had. That vanilla is just awesome, and loving the cookie pieces. This is going to stay in the rotation, for sure.
Coffee – ice cream made with natural coffee beans (picture will be replaced when I buy another half gallon)
I love coffee ice cream! And this is probably my new favorite coffee ice cream. I’m a big coffee fan to begin with, and I can end my day with that crave-able coffee flavor, without the caffeine keeping me up at night.
Homemade Vanilla – “homemade-tasting vanilla ice cream with a special hand-cranked flavor” – per website (picture will be replaced when I buy another half gallon)
The best Homemade Vanilla ice cream I have ever had. Doesn’t taste like a fake vanilla flavor. This is the vanilla taste I remember as a kid. It definitely brought me back. The only Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream I will buy from now on.
Dutch Chocolate – chocolate ice cream made w/imported chocolate (picture may be replaced, if I buy another)
I love chocolate, but this was a bit to rich for me. Not as creamy as the milk chocolate. I am interested to try the Great Divide to see if I change my mind.
Oatmeal Cream Pie (Limited Time) – oatmeal flavored ice cream w/hints of brown sugar mixed w/soft oatmeal cookies and vanilla icing swirl.
Ridiculously tasty! I was preparing for a cinnamon overload and I was wrong. Absolutely one of our new favorites. All of us loved the bites of oatmeal cookies in the oatmeal ice cream. We decided, if there is a big one…we must have it.
Still so many that we haven’t tried yet…
The Great Divide – Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream and rich, creamy Dutch Chocolate Ice Cream
Moo-llennium Crunch – vanilla ice cream w/dark chocolate chunks, caramel chunks, roasted pecans, chopped almonds and walnut pieces.

Ultimate Neapolitan – Homemade Vanilla, Dutch Chocolate and Strawberries & Homemade Vanilla
Natural Vanilla Bean – ” all natural vanilla ice cream with delicate flecks of natural vanilla beans”
Pistachio Almond – Pistachio ice cream w/pieces of roasted almonds
Buttered Pecan – butter pecan ice cream w/lightly salted, roasted pecan halves.
Chocolate Chip – vanilla ice cream w/dark chocolate chips.
Cherry Vanilla – “Maraschino cherry halves mixed into a smooth, creamy vanilla ice cream“
Black Walnut – ice cream w/black walnuts
Southern Blackberry Cobbler (Limited Time) – ice cream w/blackberry flavor combined with flaky pie crust pieces and a blackberry sauce swirl.
Peaches ‘n Homemade Vanilla (Limited Time) – Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream w/ripe peaches
Gooey Butter Cake (Limited Time) – Cake Batter Ice Cream w/a cream cheese swirl and gooey butter cake pieces.
Cookies ‘n Cream Cone (Limited Time) – vanilla ice cream w/chocolate crème filled cookie crumbles, chocolate cone pieces coated in dark chocolate and a chocolate fudge swirl
Cinnamon Twist (Limited Time) – ice cream w/ hints of brown sugar and cinnamon combined w/cinnamon bun dough pieces and a cinnamon icing swirl
Bride’s Cake (Limited Time) – almond ice cream w/ white cake pieces and a rich amaretto cream cheese icing swirl.
Salted Caramel Brownie (Limited Time) – vanilla ice cream w/chocolate brownies and a salted caramel swirl.
Tin Roof (Limited Time) – “Vanilla flavored ice cream with a rich chocolate sundae sauce and roasted peanuts dipped in a dark chocolate flavored coating.“
Butter Crunch (Limited Time) – vanilla ice cream loaded w/ chunks of crunchy chocolate peanut butter candy
