As a reminder, I live with Ehlers-Danlos (Hypermobility), Fibromyalgia & Endometriosis

This first week of 2022 has been a little crazy already. To start, the weather has been so up and down here in STL. New Years Eve, it was mid sixties and today, we have a high of thirty and a chance of snow tonight. Weather REALLY effects my body. Any extreme changes can cause a lot of discomfort. Since Christmas Day, I have been battling back and hip pains. They shoot straight down my leg, and sometimes down to the foot. A couple of days last week, I was on a cane. I just couldn’t walk without it.
Met with my doctor re Endometriosis. We need to change up my hormones and see if that will help. I’m still having bad periods, having mid cycle cramps, sharp pains on both sides. Seriously, I’m so over it.
Breaks are needed quite frequently, when I’m doing stuff around the house. My heating pad and foot/leg massager have been getting a lot of use lately. I know that I have been doing a lot more physical activity lately, helping out my mom, and my body just feels like it is running on fumes. I truly don’t know what I would do with out my heating pad & massagers.
This year, I am on the hunt for a new pain specialist. I am getting to where I can’t manage it on my own, since my previous specialist retired. I am one of those people who don’t like to ask for help, unless I am absolutely desperate. I don’t like to bother others with my problems. In my mind, if it goes away in a day or two, then I am good. It’s when a pain or dislocation goes for more than 72 hours, is when I reach out for some sort of help.
I, also, don’t like going to the doctors office. Physically, it is exhausting having to drive to the office. Park. Walk forever to get to where I need to be. I do have handicapped parking, but if your appointment is in a hospital, then the handicapped parking doesn’t matter once you get to the front door. Still have hallway, after hallway to walk through to get to where I am going. Like last week, for example, went to my OBGYN appointment and was having the horrible pains in my hips and legs. I parked in handicapped and used my cane to get to the office. By the time I was done, my hand hurt from gripping the cane. My leg and hips were just throbbing from having to walk so far. I just want to stay home and deal with whatever problem is ailing me that day.
I am hoping this new year will bring happier things, rather than pains and canes.
